If you're a Live user who wants to throw a hang drum on your productions from time to time, buy this Live Pack and have fun. If your whole sound revolved around a Hang instrument, I would recommend buying a Hang Balu from Panart directly. In other words, it’s like Superior Drummer for Hang drums. The pack also contains different types of strikes, an arpeggiator, a filter, and round-robin samples to prevent the "machine gun" effect, caused by hearing the same sample triggered consecutively. Instead of a large and expensive instrument that only plays a limited scale, I can play both the Mk I and Mk II generation hang drums, both with a full chromatic scale to choose from. That is basically why I haven't bought a Hang instrument yet, and why I much prefer the ease of use that comes with this Live Pack. That being said, Panart is still at the top of the hang drum game, and so buying one either involves a high price tag and a long wait, or a compromise in build quality and authenticity. There are many imitation hang drums made by big brands like Meinl and smaller, one-person operations who sell their versions on through websites like Etsy. If you have a Hang instrument you would like to sell, you must offer it to Panart to buyback first, to prevent people from flipping hang drums on eBay for a profit. If you want one, you have to contact the company, Panart, and there is a waiting list to have yours custom made. They no longer sell the Hang, and now have a new, improved version called the "Hang Balu". The "Hang" was invented by two Swiss inventors, and even though they don't like people calling it a "Hang drum", I'm going to do it anyway.
